He Wrapped Himself Around Us

There are moments in life when a story from the world around us becomes a window into the heart of God. Years ago, a skydiving instructor and his student jumped from a plane together. Something went terribly wrong. The parachute failed. In those final seconds, the instructor wrapped himself around his student, taking the full force of the fall so the young man could live.

The student survived.
The instructor gave his life.

When I first read that story, my heart went straight to Jesus. Because this is exactly what He did for us.

We were falling—fast.
Falling through our own sin, our own choices, our own brokenness.
Falling with no parachute, no way to save ourselves, no hope of slowing the descent.

And Jesus didn’t shout instructions from a distance.
He didn’t wait for us to fix ourselves.
He didn’t tell us to try harder or be better.

He wrapped Himself around us.

He stepped into our freefall, took our place, absorbed the impact of everything that should have crushed us. The weight of sin. The judgment we deserved. The separation we could never bridge on our own.

He took it all so we could live.

Just like that instructor, Jesus made a choice:
“I will take the fall so you don’t have to.”

But unlike that brave man, Jesus didn’t stay in the grave.
He rose again so we could rise with Him—into forgiveness, into freedom, into a life we could never earn.

And now, when fear whispers,
when shame tries to pull us down,
when we feel like we’re falling again,
He reminds us:

“I’ve already taken the impact. You are safe in Me.”

This is the Gospel.
This is grace.
This is the love that holds us even when everything else gives way.

Do you feel life growing unbearably heavy, as if hope slipped through your hands?
Do quiet moments expose fears about worth, identity, or even survival?
Does the future feel cold, distant, or impossible to imagine with joy?
Do old wounds rise again and whisper that healing may never come?
Does your heart wonder if anyone sees the struggle behind your smile?
Do unanswered prayers make you question God’s care or nearness?
Does pain drown truth and silence every promise you once trusted?

These questions reveal the places where your heart breaks in silence.
And it is exactly there that God meets you.

Scripture shows His presence when despair rises and strength fades.
Psalm 13 opens with a cry that many hearts still echo: “How long, O Lord?”
Psalms 14 through 16 continue that journey — from fear and confusion to the assurance that God is a refuge, a steady place when everything else shakes.

These passages remind you that God does not turn away from your suffering.
He sees every tear and counts each breath drawn in exhaustion.

Another translation of Psalm 56:8 echos:
“You have taken account of my wanderings; put my tears in Your bottle.” (NASB)

Not one tear escapes His notice.
God does not dismiss a single sorrow.

And while your circumstances may shift like sand beneath your feet, Jesus remains the solid Rock beneath every storm.
Hebrews 13 reminds us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Psalm 18 calls Him “my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer.”
Isaiah 26 speaks of “the Rock eternal.”

Your world may change but He does not.

He hears every question and listens to every shattered prayer.
When you feel invisible or unwanted, His truth speaks worth over your life. Especially when hope feels lost, His love still finds you.

Psalm 34 whispers comfort to the hurting: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.”
Psalm 46 declares that God is “a very present help in trouble,” not distant, not delayed.
Isaiah 43 reminds you that when you pass through deep waters, you are not alone.

Psalm 139 reveals the depth of His care — how He formed you with intention and love.
He shaped your innermost being and stitched every detail with purpose.
Your worth does not come from strength or success.
It comes from His hands creating you with meaning, value, and dignity.

He calls you fearfully and wonderfully made, even when you feel broken or lost.
Jesus surrounds you before and behind.
He knows your thoughts, your fears, your unspoken prayers.
God sees everything about you.

And while your emotions may rise and fall, His love does not waver.
While your strength may fail, His faithfulness stands firm.
While your path may twist unexpectedly, His character remains constant.

God desires a real relationship with you: not performance, not perfection, but presence.
He planned your days before your first breath and watches over each moment with compassion.
His love reaches into despair and pulls your heart toward hope.
His promises lead you toward redemption, healing, and new life found in Jesus.

Even now in the questions, in the ache, in the quiet.
He is holding every tear, every fear, every longing. If ever there is a moment when hope feels lost, know that you are not alone.

And just as the waves will always crash against the shore,
and the sun will always rise to meet the morning,
your God is always there: steady, present, and unchanging.

Life shifts fiercely around you, yet God holds you steady. He gathers your tears, and He anchors your life to His unshakable Rock.

Your circumstances may change, but your Savior never does.

God NEVER forgets you.
God sees YOU!
You are held by the God who gathers your tears and anchors your life to a Rock that cannot be moved.

Michael Munn’s life reflects courage, perseverance, and the steady grace of God. In many ways, his journey can be described as A Life Shaped by God’s Grace. His story began in China, where he spent part of his childhood in a foster home. Life there held challenges, but it also held purpose. The founders of the foster home showed him that blindness did not define his limits. They taught him that he could dream, grow, and pursue a full life. They also helped him learn English, along with reading and writing in English and Chinese Braille.

Everything changed in 2014 when a Christian American family adopted him. Their love gave him more than a home. It gave him confidence, stability, and the freedom to imagine a future far beyond what he once believed possible. God’s timing in that moment opened a door that shaped every step ahead.

Arriving in the United States brought new challenges. At first, Michael had to adapt to a new culture, a new language, and a new school system. In addition, he needed to relearn English and master contracted Braille in a country far from everything familiar. During that time, sixth-grade science class felt overwhelming, especially during long lessons spoken entirely in English. Even so, Michael stayed determined. Each day, his skills grew stronger until the language barrier slowly dissolved. With God’s help, he continued building a life shaped by grace, perseverance, and purpose.

Michael graduated high school in 2022 and began training at Blind Incorporated in Minnesota. There, he developed strong skills in independent travel, daily living, communication, and self-advocacy. That training shaped his confidence and prepared him for college life. The program showed him that independence grows through practice and perseverance as part of A Life Shaped by God’s Grace.

Faith plays a central role in Michael’s life. He participates in the student fellowship at his church, where he worships, studies Scripture, and prays with others. He occasionally helps lead worship and enjoys serving beside his church family. Michael also recognizes God’s hand in the adoption process that brought him to the United States. He sees God’s guidance in every step that allowed his family to bring him home.

Today, Michael attends Minneapolis College. He plans to transfer to the University of Minnesota to major in Political Science and continue toward law school. He serves as secretary of his college’s Student Senate, working to build a more supportive and inclusive campus community. In this season, he continues to live A Life Shaped by God’s Grace, striving to reflect the Lord’s love wherever he goes.

Music also fills his life with joy. He plays the drums, learns the saxophone, and enjoys exploring other instruments. He loves to travel, especially by train across the country, where he experiences the world with curiosity and gratitude.

Michael’s story shows that God shapes every journey with intention. His life reflects hope, strength, and the power of perseverance rooted in faith. Through challenges and change, God continues to lead his steps, preparing him for the purpose ahead.

God strengthens anyone who seeks Him. He lifts those who reach for His help. God never turns away a searching heart. When we reach for Him, He draws near and guides our steps. He restores the weary, strengthens the weak, and leads anyone willing to place a hand in His. Through every season, God meets every person who calls on Him, and He fills each life with hope and purpose.

When Life Gets Tough: Hope the Holds

Life has a way of pressing in on us. Some days the weight feels heavier than others: unexpected news, long seasons of waiting, disappointments that stack up, or the quiet ache of feeling alone in the struggle. But even in those moments, hope is not lost. Scripture reminds us again and again that God meets us right where we are, offering strength for today and courage for tomorrow.

Hope isn’t pretending everything is fine. Hope is choosing to believe that God is still working, still loving, still leading, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.

Hope That Looks Forward

The Bible continually points us toward a future shaped by God’s faithfulness.

“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” (Isaiah 40:31)

These verses don’t promise an easy life. They promise a faithful God.

Hope That Loves Deeply

When life gets tough, our instinct can be to pull back. But Scripture calls us to lean in, to love one another, to carry each other’s burdens, to be living reminders of God’s compassion.

“Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:34)

“Encourage one another and build each other up.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

Hope grows when it’s shared.

Hope That Stays Through the Storm

God never asks us to walk through hardship alone. His presence is steady, even when our emotions are not.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” (Psalm 34:18)

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

These promises anchor us when everything else feels unsteady.

A Closing Word of Encouragement

No matter what someone is facing today: fear, loss, exhaustion, or uncertainty. God’s hope is not fragile. It doesn’t crack under pressure. It doesn’t disappear in the dark. It holds.

And as we look ahead, we can choose to love one another with the same grace God pours out on us. That kind of love becomes a lighthouse for weary hearts.

God’s plan to redeem and save us didn’t begin in a moment of crisis; it began long before, rooted in His unchanging love. But to see the fullness of that plan, we must first understand the brokenness that made redemption necessary.

Long before John and Jesus walked the earth, God spoke through the prophets. This was because humanity’s choices had gone terribly wrong. People were created for a living, personal relationship with God. Yet they chose their own way, rejecting His design and pursuing their own desires. Those choices opened the door for sin to enter the world. People decided to live life on their terms instead of God’s. This shattered the relationship we were created to enjoy, showing the need for God’s plan to save and redeem us. And while we often believe we can chart our own course, that path always leads to destruction, disappointment, and deep unhappiness.

Scripture makes this truth unmistakably clear: sin separates people from a holy God. No amount of rule-keeping, religious effort, sacrifice, or good behavior done in our own strength can repair what was broken. Humanity needed more than self-improvement; we needed a Savior. Only God Himself could restore us, bring us back into relationship with Him, and lead us into His perfect purpose and design for our lives.

“Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save… but your iniquities have separated you from your God.”
— Isaiah 59:1–2 (NIV)

Humanity could not save itself. But God did not turn away.

Because God loves us and desires a real relationship with us, He chose to come to us. From the beginning, the prophets announced that God Himself would step into history to rescue His people, restore what was broken, and bring salvation.

Isaiah proclaimed:

“A voice cries: In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”
— Isaiah 40:3 (ESV)

This prophecy was not only a call to repentance. It was a declaration that Yahweh Himself would come to accomplish His plan to save and redeem.

Isaiah repeatedly affirmed this truth:

“I, the LORD, am your Savior.” — Isaiah 43:11 (NLT)

“Here is your God… He will come and save you.” — Isaiah 35:4 (NLT)

“Behold your God! Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might.” — Isaiah 40:9–10 (ESV)

Micah added a crucial detail:

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah… out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” — Micah 5:2 (NIV)

God was not sending another messenger.
He was coming Himself!

Jesus came not only to forgive sin. He also came to call people to repentance, a turning away from who we were and how we were living, and a turning toward God and a new way of life.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” — Matthew 4:17 (NIV)

To repent means more than feeling sorry. It means choosing to leave old ways behind and allowing God to transform the heart, the mind, and the direction of one’s life.

God came to earth because He cares deeply about us. Through Jesus, anyone who believes is forgiven, restored to God, and given new life as part of His plan to redeem us.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
— John 3:16 (NIV)

Behold Your God — The Savior Who Comes to Redeem

But God did not leave humanity wandering in the dark. Even in the midst of our rebellion, He kept speaking, sending His prophets to remind His people that He had not abandoned His plan or His promise. Through every generation, God whispered hope into a broken world. He pointed forward to the One who would restore what sin had shattered. And when the weight of despair felt heaviest, God lifted the eyes of His people. He declared a message of courage, comfort, and certainty:

Those who trust in Jesus are promised eternal life with God. Until that day, we are called to live like Jesus, walking in humility, obedience, and love. We do this while we wait for the fullness of what He has promised. Through God’s plan to redeem and save, we are given the strength to continue.

O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain;
O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength;
lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him:
behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

— Isaiah 40:9–10 (KJV)

Maria always woke up before the sun. In the quiet moments, she imagined a God who sits with you, sharing the silence. Not because she was disciplined, but because her mind never stopped racing.

Bills.
Her son’s diagnosis.
Her mother’s declining health.
The ache of feeling like she had to hold everything together.

She sat at the kitchen table with her coffee, staring at the steam rising like a prayer she didn’t know how to pray.

“God, I don’t even know how to talk to You anymore,” she whispered.

She expected silence.
Instead, something unexpected happened.

A memory surfaced, something her grandmother used to say when Maria was a child:

God is not far away. He is Father above you, Son beside you, and Spirit within you.

He is God with you

Maria hadn’t thought about that in years.

She closed her eyes.

And suddenly, she wasn’t alone at the table. She felt God presence sitting right there with her.

Not in a mystical way.
But in a real way.

She sensed the Father: steady, strong, holding the universe and still holding her.
Maria sensed Jesus: The One who walked dusty roads and understood exhaustion, grief, and responsibility.
She sensed the Holy Spirit: quiet, gentle, breathing peace into the places where fear had lived too long.

It wasn’t three gods.
It was one God meeting her in three ways she desperately needed.

The Father saying, “I see you.”
The Son saying, “I’m with you.”
The Spirit saying, “You’re not doing this alone.”

Maria didn’t get answers that morning.
But she got something better: presence.

And for the first time in months, she exhaled.

Hope didn’t begin in a palace.
It didn’t arrive with trumpets or royal banners.
Hope came quietly… in the middle of the night, in a forgotten town, to a world that felt weary and worn.

Jesus came into the darkness of the world, not around it. He became one of Us.

He didn’t stay distant.
God didn’t send hope from afar.
He put on flesh and lived among us.

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”— John 1:14 (ESV)

“They will call His name Immanuel, which, translated, means, ‘God with us.’” — Matthew 1:23 (AMP)

A Christmas Invitation for You Today

Jesus still steps into dark places.
He still brings light to weary hearts.
He still whispers hope into the quiet corners of our lives.

And that includes your life.

Wherever you are today
in joy or sorrow, in waiting or wondering
the message of Christmas is for you:

Hope has come.
Jesus is here.
Hope will not leave you.

But this hope is not automatic.
It is a gift and like any gift, it must be received.

Jesus didn’t come just to inspire you.
He came to save you.
To forgive your sins.
To heal what’s broken.
He restores what was lost.
To bring you into a relationship with God that begins now and lasts forever.

He became one of us so He could bring us back to the Father.
Jesus entered our world so He could enter our hearts.
He took on our humanity so He could carry our sin to the cross,

Christmas is not just a story about a baby in a manger.

It is the beginning of God’s rescue mission for you.

And today, He invites you to respond.

Why Jesus? Why Now?

Because you were created for more than surviving.
You were created for relationship — with the God who loves you.

Because sin separates us from God, and we cannot fix ourselves.
But Jesus came to do what we could never do.

Because every heart longs for forgiveness, peace, purpose, and hope —
and all of it is found in Him.

Because Jesus is not far away.
He is near.
He is reaching for you.
And He is ready to make you new.

If You Want to Receive Jesus Today

You don’t need perfect words.
Or think you need to clean yourself up first.
You simply need a willing heart.

Here is a prayer you can make your own:

“Jesus, I believe You came for me.
I believe You died for my sins and rose again.
Forgive me, cleanse me, and make me new.
I receive You as my Lord and Savior.
Come into my life and fill me with Your hope, Your peace, and Your presence.
I give myself to You today. Amen.”

Or You can just say:

“Help me… I need you.”

Because God hears the honest cry of a sincere heart.

If you prayed that from your heart, this day, Christmas or any day becomes more than a holiday; it becomes your new beginning.

Hope has come.
Hope is here.
And now, Hope lives in you.

A Hope Story from Exodus

Moses had obeyed at God’s command to go and Free His People.
He had stepped into his calling.
He had spoken to Pharaoh.
And it had gone terribly wrong.

Instead of freedom, the Israelites faced harsher slavery.
Instead of breakthrough, Moses faced backlash.
He cried out to God, questioning everything:

“Why did You ever send me?” — Exodus 5:22, (MSG)

And then — in Exodus 6 — God answered.

Not with rebuke.
Not with silence.
But with reminders of who He is.

God’s Response to a Weary Person (Exodus 6:1–8)

God said:

“I am the Lord.”

“I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob…”

“I have heard the groaning of the Israelites…”

“I will bring you out…”

“I will redeem you…”

“I will take you as My own people…”

“I will be your God…”

“I will bring you to the land I swore…”

Eight promises.
Eight declarations of identity.
Eight anchors of hope.

obeyed God and felt punished for it

stepped out in faith and hit a wall

questioned their calling

felt like hope was slipping away

It reminds us:

God sees the groaning we hide

God speaks when we feel forgotten

God repeats His promises when we’re too weary to remember

God’s identity is our anchor when circumstances feel unstable

Hope is not the absence of struggle — it’s the presence of God in the middle of it

Prayer: When Hope Feels Lost

Hager: A Story from Gensis

There are moments in life when we feel pushed aside, forgotten, or overwhelmed by circumstances we never asked for. In these moments, we often long for the presence of The God Who Sees Us. Hagar knew that feeling intimately. Her story in Genesis is one of the earliest and clearest pictures of God meeting someone in the very place they believed hope had died.

Hagar wasn’t a woman of status or power. She was a servant, mistreated, misunderstood, and eventually driven into the wilderness with nothing but her sorrow. Yet it was there — in the barren places — that God wrote one of Scripture’s most tender hope stories. Through Hagar’s journey, she learned of the God who sees us even in loneliness.

The First Wilderness (Genesis 16)

Hagar ran into the desert, carrying pain she didn’t know how to hold. And then Scripture says something astonishing:

“The Angel of the Lord found her…”

He didn’t stumble upon her.
God didn’t pass by.
He found her — intentionally, compassionately, purposefully.

God called her by name.
He spoke to her future.
He promised blessing over her son.

And Hagar responded with words that still echo through the ages:

“Thou God seest me.”
(Genesis 16:13, KJV)

A woman who felt invisible discovered she was fully known because of The God Who Sees Us.

The Second Wilderness (Genesis 21)

Years later, Hagar found herself in the desert again—sent away from the only home she had ever known, this time with her child beside her. When the last drop of water was gone, she laid Ishmael beneath a bush and stepped away, her heart breaking as she wept, unable to watch her son die.

But God heard the boy’s cry.
And once again, hope broke into the wilderness.

“Fear not; for God hath heard…”
(Genesis 21:17, KJV)

God opened her eyes to a well of water she hadn’t seen before. The God Who Sees Us provided water when she needed it most, in the wilderness.
Provision was already there — she just needed God to reveal it.

Why This Story Matters Today

Hagar’s story is for anyone who has ever felt:

unseen

forgotten

overwhelmed

pushed aside

alone in a wilderness season

Her life reminds us:

God sees what others overlook

God hears the cries we can’t even speak

God meets us in the desert places

God provides what we cannot find on our own

God writes hope into the chapters we thought were ending

Hagar discovered a truth that still holds today:
The God who sees us is also the God who stays with us.

Prayer: The God Who Sees Me

Father, You are the God who sees- El Roi
You see the places in my life that feel like wilderness.
You see the tears I hide, the fears I carry, and the questions I cannot put into words.
Just as You found Hagar in her loneliness and opened her eyes to Your provision,
open my eyes today to the hope You have already placed before me.

When I feel unseen, remind me that You call me by name.
God I feel forgotten, whisper that You are near.
When I feel overwhelmed, steady my heart with Your presence.
Meet me in the desert places and lead me to the well of Your grace.

Thank You for being the God who hears my cry,
the God who stays with me,
and the God who brings hope where hope seems impossible.
I rest in Your faithfulness today.
In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
